A district chief was injured in a landmine explosion in the volatile southeastern province of Khost, bordering Pakistan's tribal region of Kurram, Saturday morning.
General Muhammad Nawab, a senior military officer in the province, told Pajhwok Afghan News the roadside blast happened in Bak district. District chief Lutfullah Babakarkhel was injured in the explosion.
The district chief was on the way from home to his office. Nawab said Babakarkhel suffered minor injuries while his vehicle was damaged. He was rushed to hospital for treatment. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
