Workers of the Kabul Municipality Friday embarked on a cleanliness campaign in this heavily-polluted central capital after a long suspension of work, an official said.

Municipality officer Nisar Ahmad Habibi told Pajhwok Afghan News 600 workers and 63 vehicles were taking part in the ongoing operation. He said the weekly operation would be conducted every Friday.

The municipality has decided to remove 600 cubic feet of garbage from the second district of Kabul to the Kazag area, located around 20 kilometres east of the city.
