Original Report

Gunmen shot dead a police officer at a checkpoint in the Khashrod district of southwestern Nimroz province on Friday, an official said.

The provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban insurgents gunned down 1st Lt. Esmatullah, the deputy commander of a checkpoint in the Deh Mazang area.

Col. Abdul Jabbar Purdali added Esmatullah was going to Zaranj city in a fuel tanker. The militants got him down and shot him dead, the police chief added.
