A nine-member illegal armed group was busted and a huge quantity of narcotics set ablaze in western Herat province, bordering Iran, officials said on Wednesday.
A commander of the Afghan National Army (ANA), Col. Zainuddin informed Pajhwok Afghan News the illegal group was detained with the cooperation of US forces from a house in Chishma-i-Aspha village of Gulran district.
The armed men who were trafficking narcotics to neighbouring Turkmenistan were captured with a carload of 400 kilograms of opium, he said, adding the opium was burnt after being recovered.
