Ban urges Afghans to vote in elections
KABUL (PAN): The UN secretary-general has urged all Afghan women and men eligible to vote to cast their ballot in Thursday's presidential and provincial council elections. By participating in the elections, Ban Ki-moon noted, the Afghan people would help their country strengthen its democratic institutions, bring fresh vigour to its political life and ultimately reaffirm their commitment to contribute to the peace and prosperity of their nation.  details>>

Three more US soldiers killed
KABUL (PAN): Two more American soldiers under NATO command have died as a result of an improvised explosive attack on their patrol in volatile southern Afghanistan, the alliance said on Wednesday. "We express deep sorrow for the family and friends of our fellow service members in the wake of these losses," said Brig. Gen. 10 detained for distributing night letters
GARDEZ (PAN): Police in southeastern Paktia province have arrested 10 people on the charges of distributing night letters, an official said on Wednesday. Police chief Brigadier General Aziz Ahmad Wardak told Pajhwok Afghan News four people were arrested in Ahmadabad district and another six in Gardez where they were spreading night letters.  details>>
